The Meridian population tripled between 1990 and 2000 with the current population of approximately 72,000. Meridian was established in 1893 and incorporated in 1903 with an initial population of 200. The community still celebrates its heritage with the annual Meridian Dairy Days celebration every June and the Scarecrow Festival in the fall.
