Downtown Boise
What a vibrant downtown we have! Shopping, dining of every possible type, clubs, Whole Foods (Trader Joes in 2014!) and a variety of high-rise living. Downtown is home of the State Capital building as well as numerous state and federal office buildings, the Boise Art Museum, The Idaho State Historical Museum, the Basque Museum and Cultural Center, Zoo Boise and Julia Davis Park (across the river is Boise State University – home of the famous Boise Broncos football team).
In the summer the Grove Plaza becomes the site of free weekly concerts at Alive After Five. Several downtown streets are closed to auto traffic each Saturday during the summer months and the farmers market and local artisans move in and set up shop. On the First Thursday of each month year round the downtown art galleries throw open their doors in the evening and host show openings (many retailers stay open late as well).
