North End

In 2008 the American Planning Association designated Boise’s North End one of 10 great neighborhoods. The north end lies between the foothills and downtown, the majority of which lies in the historic district. These tree-lined streets feature an eclectic blend of home styles: Tudor, Craftsman, Queen Anne, Four Square and even a few Art Deco thrown in for good measure. Stately Harrison Boulevard with both mansions and modest homes is not to be missed.

The residents of this street go all out on Halloween and needs to be experienced by all at least once. The heart of the North End would have to be Hyde Park and Camels Back Park. There are miles of foot hills hiking behind Camels Back Park, the Military Reserve and Hulls Gulch – all part of the Ridge to Rivers hiking trails. This lively area features restaurants, shopping and the park for sledding, hiking, tennis and playground.  Head further north 16 miles up Bogus Basin Rd into the Boise National Forrest for a day (or evening) of skiing or tubing.
